First flight from Kannur takes off leaving behind blame game

With the first flight taking off from Kannur International Airport, the ruling Left and the Opposition Congress have now come out in the open blaming the other for the delay in making the airport operational much earlier.
In his inaugural address, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticised the UDF for the delay that occurred in completing the construction of the Kannur International Airport.
https://www.indianflash.com/2018/12/09/first-flight-from-kannur-takes-off-leaving-behind-blame-game
He said that there was no need for such a long time to realcomplete the project thatan in 1996.
Vijayan alleged that no works were done in the five years between 2001 to 2006. The reason behind that inactivity is still unknown. Later, the works of the airport restarted when V. S. Acuthanandan-led government came to power. The activities including land acquisition progressed rapidly during that period.
However, former chief minister Oommen Chandy said in Kottayam that the construction was progressing according to schedule till the UDF government was in power. The UDF was to complete the project in 2017 when a slight shift in the schedule occurred. This was only because a panchayat led by CPM did not cooperate for land acquisition and quarrying of rocks, he said and added that he was not for any controversy.
