Kerala receives International award for Nipah prevention


The Kerala government received international recognition for the steps taken to prevent the spread of Nipah virus that claimed 17 lives in the state.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Health Minister KK Shailaja received the award given by the Institute of Human Virology, Baltimore in recognition of the anti-Nipah efforts of the state.

Institute  co-founder Dr Robert C Gallo presented the award. Vijayan and Shylaja also held talks with Gallo and others.
